Event: India International Trade Fair 2016
Roles and Responsibilites:
Petroleum Conservation Research Association(PCRA) is a government organization with the aim of increasing awareness about fuel conservation. India International Trade Fair(IITF) is the biggest trade show in India. PCRA wanted an interactive installation at their stall at IITF to teach people about fuel conservation in a fun way. They liked our Dusshehra VR experiment(video at bottom of page) and went with a modified version of it as a quiz.
The quiz is a timed VR game where the user holds the VR controllers which become the bow and arrow. Series of hot air balloons rise before them 3 at a time with text written on them related to petroleum conservation facts. 2 of them are wrong and 1 is correct. The user has to hit the correct balloon on which all 3 disappear with a gain in score. On hitting an incorrect one, only the incorrect one disappears with a score penalty. Hitting the correct balloon early earns more points. User has to make as high a score as possible before timer runs out.
This is a video of the demo game we made, on which this project is based. The game is based on Dussehra, the Indian festival of celebrating God Rama's victory over the demon Ravana. It is usually celebrated by burning several story high firecracker-loaded effigies of Ravana, symbolizing the destruction of evil. The game similarly consists of lighting arrows on fire and shooting it at the Ravana effigy's heads in front of you. On hitting and setting on fire all of Ravana's heads, the user has to hit the elixir of life located at Ravana's navel(as in the Ramayana) to finally set the whole effigy in fire.
